FC Goa look to overcome successive defeats as they host in-form Odisha FC

FC Goa take on Odisha FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Saturday. Six points separate the two sides as the Juggernauts are in fourth place, knowing that a win takes them level on points with leaders Mumbai City FC. The Gaurs are currently occupying the final playoff spot, and a win will bring them level on points with Kerala Blasters FC in fifth. The historic advantage lies with FC Goa, as they have never lost a Hero ISL game against Odisha FC.

The hosts will be looking to avoid a third successive defeat. The last time they went without a point for three consecutive games was at the end of last season in the final four games. In their last two games, FC Goa have conceded six goals and managed to score just one.

Head coach Carlos Pena will be without key midfielder Edu Bedia who was sent off last week in Mumbai. This could allow Pena to bring Princeton Rebello in midfield and deploy Noah Wail Sadaoui, the club’s leading goal-scorer, down the flank to provide width with Alvaro Vazquez up front.

NorthEast United FC eye fresh start under new head coach as Chennaiyin FC come calling

NorthEast United FC will be hoping to lay their winless start to rest as they re-start their campaign under new Head Coach Vincenzo Annese when they face Chennaiyin FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati on Saturday.

The Highlanders parted ways with Marco Balbul after losing their last game against Odisha FC. After losing all eight games, NorthEast United are sitting at the bottom of the table with no points this season, having conceded 18 goals and scored only four this season. The former Gokulam Kerala Head Coach Annese will look to change things and get the Highlanders off the mark this season. Annese comes with proven success having guided Gokulam Kerala to back-to-back Hero I-League titles in the last two years.

The 38-year-old Italian is already familiar with a couple of faces in the squad. Emil Benny and Jithin MS were both a part of the Gokulam team that lifted the Hero I-League trophy last season. NorthEast United FC will be eager to see what the new head coach has in store for them.
