Job Description

Football scouts are responsible for evaluating both professional and amateur athletes for talent and skill in a specific sport. It is often difficult to break into this career field, though candidates who have playing or coaching experience in the sport that they wish to scout may be able to find opportunities

Primary Responsibilities

  • To work as an integral member of the Scouting Network in identifying players for the Club
  • To be responsible for identifying and reporting on the most talented young players in their designated geographical area.
  • To attend a monthly scouting meeting with the Head of Academy
  • To maintain and submit accurate and detailed records of all matches attended and players scouted
  • To ensure the necessary forms have been completed and information collated on all potential player recruits in order that they can be registered correctly and timeously
  • Manage, scouting program budgets within assigned guidelines
  • Recruit, train, scout and instruct scouts as necessary to build a competitive scouting team
  • Coordinate and implement promotional activities to provide visibility, encourage attendance, and otherwise bring positive attention to the RG academy program
  • Plan and implement fundraising activities in accordance with institutional policies and procedures
  • Manage and coordinate scheduling, including travel, officials, support personnel, etc. for practices, contests, games, or matches
  • To attend a monthly scouting meeting with the Head of Academy
  • To maintain a working knowledge of all players who have either previously been signed/ registered with the Academy but have since been released or have had unsuccessful periods of training and assessment, in order to identify any potential late developers
  • Include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The position will be required to find and supervise volunteer assistants

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related major from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of local junior football clubs
  • AFC/UEFA-B or A license holder of equivalent
  • Minimum experience of 8-10 years working in a professional football club
  • Prior experience as a player or as a coach
  • The candidate should be able to work well in a team, lead and handle a team under him
  • Computer skills -Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Professional experience working with : Hudl, Wyscout, Escout ,Instat
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, professional scout reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
