CDC Moscardo signs Brishti Bagchi for the upcoming season

Spanish club CDC Moscardo has signed Indian footballer Brishti Bagchi for the upcoming season. She becomes the First Indian female footballer to sign a professional contract with a Spanish club. Brishti has followed the footsteps of fellow Indian footballers, Bala Devi and Aditi Chauhan who had played with Rangers FC and West Ham respectively.

The 26 year old started her career at the age of 9 with the Sports Authority of India girls team and later went on to represent Karnataka at the state level for their junior and senior teams. In 2012, She moved to the United States on a scholarship. There, she played varsity soccer at Oklahoma City University, which was followed by a move to North Texas University. After being scouted, she moved to Spain in 2018 and went on to have trials at Spanish first-division clubs such as Madrid Club de Futbol Femenino, Alcorcon S.A.D, CD Leganes, Getafe, and Alhondiga. She also played for Bengaluru United Football Club in the 2019/20 season of the IWL

“I have always been a huge fan of Spanish football and it’s been my dream to play here. I’m happy to have finally signed with CDC Moscardo. It kind of feels a bit long overdue because I spent almost 2 years training with a few clubs here in Spain. However, It’s one of the most humbling experiences ever. Training with amazing coaches here, signing and being part of the league, it’s actually very overwhelming. I’m ready for it and I know what I have to do. I hope my journey inspires more girls to pursue their passion and taking up sport professionally,” Brishti said in a statement.
